WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF MISSOURI

No One Does More For Veterans
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

With the upcoming Convention I am hopeful that we will be able to reach 100% membership for the Department.  Please continue to work on recruiting new members to the VFW we have a way to go yet to reach 100%.

Best regards,

Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy

If you know a Disabled Veteran who is interested in becoming a youth or High School Softball/Baseball umpire, or one that already is and would like to get better, please share this with them:
Registration for the 2024 Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy (WWUA) will open on February 1st, 2024, and the clinic will be held in Carlisle, PA June 7-17.  There is no cost to the Veteran and all equipment needed to become a successful umpire will be provided for free.  WWUA is a 10-day umpire training clinic taught by top MLB and NCAA umpires with years of experience at a high level.  Also, MSHSAA waives registration fees for Veterans their first year under the "Trade your stripes” program:  https://www.mshsaa.org/cmspages/Become-an-Official.aspx

IN-COUNTRY

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

There is a new cartoon everyday.
